MEDIA INVITATION – ONE WORLD ONE STAGE PRESS CONFERENCE
BALISPIRIT FESTIVAL 2014
Press Conference with One World One Stage Line up Friday 21st, 05.00PM at Thai Resto -ARMA followed by Media Early Dinner :)
The 2014 “One World, One Stage” concert series is ready to rock Ubud! In a spiritual sense of course :) The lineup is vibrant, diverse, and uber-talented, a full spectrum of spiritually charged world music styles from across the globe. We didn’t miss a single continent or a single mood. From soulful prayersong that will make you weep tears of gratitude to beats that will make your joy bubble burst, BaliSpirit Festival has gathered it all as an offering to the Youniverse!
Friday night is all about the rhythms of passionate celebration, with a decidedly Sufi flavor spiced by a hint of Hawaii. Our beloved Daphne Tse and the Kauai Ohana Band will open the night with Daphne’s CD-release celebration, a sweet treat to kick off a magical weekend. Then comes the legendary Sufi ensemble Kande, from Aceh in Sumatra, featuring fiery tribal rhythms and soaring devotional vocals. Niyaz are next up, a middle-eastern fusion group featuring the stunning Iranian singer Azam Ali, master musicians from Iran and Turkey, and some of the most gorgeous and subtle electronic production on the contemporary world music scene. DJ Fabian Alsultany will close the night with a full-power magic carpet ride of dance music. And big thanks to the Green School Choir and Marimba ensembles for keeping it lively throughout the night!
Saturday night we bathe in the rhythms that surround the Indian Ocean, with groups with roots in Africa, Australia, and Bali. The renowned Cudamani gamelan ensemble opens the night with their world-class artistry before Ubud’s own Nasi Campur bring the afro-infused love vibrations (as well as the best afro on Bali!?!). Next, Sousou & Maher Cissoko take the stage to light up hearts with music born of their personal love story as a Swedish-Senegalese couple united by the regal grace of the kora. Topping it all off, Oka Collective will take it deep to fly high, featuring Big Stu on the decks and didg, rocking it with a new ensemble including our favorite roots music vocalist, Marcus Berg.
And there’s still Sunday night! Let’s cut to the chase: Xavier Rudd!!! That’s right, perennial festival favorite and Australian roots music pioneer Xavier Rudd is making his first ever appearance on Bali! He closes a night that will start with Bali’s acoustic darlings, Nostress, playing sweet melodies born of these sacred lands. Next comes the profound and angelic Peia, whose sacred presence and stunning voice are pure light and grace…be blessed! And from that sacred space, once again we celebrate with the debut performance of Garden Underground, serving a mashup of cumbia, afro-beat, dub reggae, and a healthy dose of medicine music.
We are also thrilled to welcome last year’s surprise superhero Dustin Thomas back to the stage! Dustin will appear nightly before our headline acts.
We are so blessed to be here together, see you at ARMA this weekend!
